If one is going to write book reviews, I believe it is her responsibility to set up some criteria by which she will measure each book. This is for a couple of reasons:
Thus, here is my pledge to you dear reader of my non-professional, criterion-based, hopefully entertaining and helpful book reviews: On my honor, I will set here in this space book reviews each week that encourage you to pick up a book yourself, and know why it is worth picking up before you begin. Each review will follow this predictable format, allowing you to read quickly what is here so you can get to the good stuff--reading the book yourself!
And that is my goal, that what I write here gets you to the library or on Amazon.com locating the book for your own devouring--perhaps even returning here to offer your point of view post-digestion of the content.
So, without further ado. . . Drumroll, please. I give you, My “Good Book” Rubric, the measuring stick for book reviews from yours truly.
(Disclaimer: The Recommended Reading section of my blog is merely pleasure writing for me. No authors or publishers are involved. Because I know no one in that world. Each review represents my personal opinions built on my background and experiences as a wife, daughter, sister, friend, parent, educator, and Christian. Also, all books in my reviews are linked to Amazon.com, and if you purchase your book by clicking on the links on my site I benefit--via the Amazon Associates Program. So, it'd be awesome if you did that!)
