Inspiration, Encouragement & Instructions
". . . let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."
(Hebrews 12:1, NIV)
(Hebrews 12:1, NIV)
On the eve of the inauguration of the 46th presidency of the United States of America, it is safe to say that many of us are wondering what the future holds. And no matter how much you or I know, we truly do not know what is in store for the years ahead. In times when the weight of the unknown seems a heavy burden to bear, I find peace in prayer.
At these times, it is the future generation that my heart feels a particular burden for because they will be called to serve and lead through the pathways being laid out for them by the events that are currently shaping our culture today.
We cannot change the circumstances of the world around us, but we can pray for a perspective set on faith and hope. We cannot set up a life free of fear or insecurity for our children, but we can pray for God to be their source of freedom and confidence. We cannot predict the future, but we can pray for our children to see the vision God has for each of them and that they can have the strength to live into it.
Would you join me in praying this prayer for the next generation?
Dear Heavenly Father,
You are true, right and good. Your plans cannot be thwarted and your mission cannot be shut down. You hold the world in your hands and cradle our hearts in your love. You are our protector, leader and friend. You have set each of us in this specific time in history because you have a purpose for each of us that is needed in the world right now. Please, give us the faith we need to trust you. Lord, we ask that you breathe life, truth, hope and understanding into the minds and souls of the next generation. We ask that you raise them up into the calling you have put on their lives, and that you’d protect them with a jealous and perfect love. We ask that as they face a culture that disagrees with you and denies your authority and favor, that you would make yourself real to them. We pray that they would acquire the knowledge and experiences they need to remain steadfast and resolute in their relationship with you. Lord, show us how to turn our eyes toward heaven, and build our dreams and goals around eternity. Help us know how to lead well in the days we have, equipping the future generation to follow you even if it is unpopular, inconvenient and dangerous. Help us to raise them to be both humble and bold, living as Daniels and Esthers in this time in history. Amen
