". . . let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."

There is a phrase that has been on repeat in my mind for several days, maybe even a couple weeks. ⠀ "Just because God calls you to it, doesn't mean you'll know exactly how to do it." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But the thought just ends there. And then it plays on repeat. . . It is like there is nothing more to say because this phrase encapsulates so precisely my personal experiences over the last few years. When I look back on my life, both in the distant past and more recently, I see a pattern: First, I have a hunch, a whisper from the Holy Spirit on a direction to go or an idea to pursue. Then I mull it over--running several miles with it, exploring Scripture to confirm it, reading literature and doing research to investigate any "hows" or "whys" of it. Then ,for a certain amount of time, I wait on the Lord for direction.
And never has he given me a 10-step plan with a neat little time line. Instead, I get a very strong sense that I am to focus my eyes and point my feet in the direction of obedience based on a glimpse. All I know is that I am to move to action with the knowledge at hand, trusting that as I go forward, my path will unfold under the sovereignty of a mighty God who is good and is good to me.
I don't know what God is calling you to in this season. But I do know that you may need to move forward based on a glimpse. If you and I wait until we know exactly how to live out all we are called to, we may end up living a life of waiting rather than calling. ⠀
So, go ahead.
Turn your eyes and point your feet in the direction he is calling you, and start moving that way. He will show you the "how" along the way. Lean in. Trust. Just because God calls you to it, doesn't mean you'll know exactly how to do it. But you have him. And he is enough.
